HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Davenport women's tennis team made the long trip to Michigan Tech on Friday and dropped a 4-0 decision against the Huskies inside the Gates Tennis Center. The match was stopped at four points needed for the win as the Panthers needed to travel across the Upper Peninsula to Lake Superior State for tomorrow's 9:00 AM match and a weather advisory was in effect.
The doubles matches all belonged to the Huskies and they earned a team point. The matches were close as
Willemien Coetzee and
Vladislava Shumilova at one doubles fell 6-4 against Nicole Ballach and Lauren Opalewski.
Kumiko Yamaguchi and
Isabella Carofano at three doubles also fell 6-4 against Marina Fernandez and Chiara Heinz.
Dominika Bobik at two singles beat Carofano 6-3, 6-3. Neva Manas at three singles beat Shumilova 6-4, 6-3. The match concluded as Opalewski at four singles beat
Louise Hosking 6-3, 6-4.
