GRANDVILLE, Mich. - The women's tennis team took on another neighboring West Michigan opponent on Saturday as they fell 6-1 against Grand Valley State in GLIAC action. The loss means that DU is now 5-15 overall and 0-4 in the GLIAC. The Lakers improved to 10-4 overall and 5-0 in the league.
The one doubles tandem of
Willemien Coetzee and
Vladislava Shumilova got a huge win 7-6 over Marily Canellopoulos and Marija Leko. The other two doubles matches did not fare as well with the Lakers winning both 6-0.
The team's point came at five singles as
Kumiko Yamaguchi picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Canellopoulos. The remaining five singles matches were won in straight sets by GVSU.
