GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's tennis team defeated Aquinas College for the second time this season on Saturday by a final of 6-1 at MVP SportsPlex. They played back on Oct. 1 with DU winning 5-2.
DU (7-15) proceeded to win all three doubles matches in this one.
Willemien Coetzee and
Vladislava Shumilova were victors at one doubles 7-6 (7-4) over Joska Volder and Sofia Gomez.
Louise Hosking and
Charlotte Zhuwakini at two doubles teamed up for a 6-2 win against Carlota Arzabe and Mimi Pecheco.
Isabella Carofano and
Kumiko Yamaguchi at three doubles won 6-0 against Vanessa Heylmun and Jenna Hausman.
The Panthers took all but three singles to capture their five more points in the 6-1 win. Coetzee had a tough match with Gomez at one singles dropping the first set 6-4 before winning the next two at 6-4, 6-2. The other wins were in straight sets. Yamaguchi (five singles), Zhuwakini (six singles) and Hosking (four singles) each won 6-1, 6-1.
