ALLENDALE, Mich. - The second-seeded Davenport University women's lacrosse team was tasked with top-seeded host, Grand Valley State, in the finals of the GLIAC Tournament for the second time in as many seasons. The seventh-ranked Lakers stormed out to an early 5-0 lead and their advantage was never slimmer than three after that en route to the 16-8 decision on Championship Sunday. Head coach
Rob Harris' DU career comes to a close with an overall record of 103-46 for a nearly 70 percent winning percentage.
Three players found the back of the net for Davenport on Sunday including
Aaliyah Miller (pictured) with four goals,
Anna Glynn with three and
Maddy Haynes with one. First Team All-GLIAC honoree,
Ayanna Turrubiates, was held without a goal for the first time all season after three shot attempts, which tied her personal low set at Indianapolis on March 6. Assist wise, Miller, Turrubiates and
Reilly Noble each notched one. Glynn fired the game high in both total shots and shots on goal with nine and seven, respectively.
Turrubiates and
Maisy Latus each finished with four ground balls while
Hannah Medina and Haynes tallied two caused turnovers apiece. On the draw,
Brenna Knoll was the leading Panther with two, but Davenport was out-drawn, 23-4, as a team.
In goal, Latus finished with four saves to give her 103 for the season, which is good for the ninth-highest total in school history. That effort also means she's the eighth player in DU history with 100 or more in a single season and sixth to do so in her first year with the program.
Following the game, Glynn, Miller and
Christine Steffes were three of 11 student-athletes named to the All-Tournament Team.
