CALEDONIA, Mich. - It took the Davenport baseball a few innings to get going on Friday, but they came back from a 2-0 deficit through five innings by scoring the final six runs in a 6-2 win over Purdue Northwest at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex in GLIAC action. 
Derrick Edington and 
Ricky Clark combined to allow just three hits against a Pride offense that entered the game leading the GLIAC with a .310 team batting average. Edington tied a career high with 11 strikeouts in seven innings and allowed one hit which was a two-run double by Jack Gallagher in the second inning. After allowing the two runs, he bounced back by striking out the Pride in order in the third inning. He retired 14 batters in a row before a lead-off walk in the seventh inning. He then got three straight fielder's choices to end his day.
Clark came into the game with a 4-2 lead after Davenport scored three times in the sixth. 
Carter Troncin led off with a double off the wall in left field. 
Cobe Huizenga pinch ran at second base and 
Tyler Mosher pinch hit. Mosher laid down a bunt single and Huizenga moved to third. 
Christian Petre singled to right on a seven-pitch at-bat to tie the game at 2. Purdue Northwest removed Sam Shively who pitched a solid game for Riley Gallagher. He got a pop out and sacrifice bunt but then 
Noah Marcoux delivered a two-run scoring double to left center.
Clark breezed through the eighth inning and DU added two more insurance runs on two costly Pride errors in the bottom of the eighth. 
Caleb Anspaugh had an infield single with one out and then 
Logan Todd laid down a bunt which was scored a single and the third baseman threw wild to first allowing Anspaugh to score and Todd to advance to third. After a lineout for the second out, Petre reached on a throwing error by the third baseman as Todd scored the sixth and final run for the Panthers.
Purdue Northwest would load the bases in the top of the ninth against Clark after two singles and a strikeout which reached first on a passed ball on the third strike all with two outs. He got Luke Montgomery to ground out on one hop to third and 
Carson Eby touched the base for the force out to end the game. Davenport improved to 27-20 overall and 15-6 in the GLIAC while the Pride are now 18-18 overall and 7-14 in the conference.
Marcoux finished with three RBI marking the ninth game this season with three or more RBI. Petre scored a pair of runs and also drew a walk. The Panthers will host Purdue Northwest again tomorrow in a doubleheader set for 1:00 PM. Between games we will be honoring nine seniors who have contributed to the program.
