In what was a banner year for most of the athletic programs at Davenport, there were a few that reached the highest pinnacle in their sport.
The women's rugby team entered the spring 7s season as the hunted and they answered the call time and again. The team had a great chance to cement themselves as champions in the newly minted USA Rugby 7s Collegiate Championships back in May. The Panthers found themselves competing in the rugged Red Division, but overcame all challengers. The two-day event was culminated in a victory over Navy. The Panthers beat Princeton 17-5 and Navy 24-17 to hoist the hardware. The Panthers were awarded a penalty try in the closing seconds and they converted.
The cheer and dance teams made their yearly pilgrimmage to Daytona Beach and continued a long-standing tradition of bringing home the biggest trophy. The cheer team captured the NCA All-Girl Division II national championship and it's first Division II title. They have now won six national championships overall. The dance team made up of 14 student-athletes secured their fourth title and defended their 2021 championship in the team division. The team was led by fifth-year captains Gabrielle Kolm and Madison Letwinski in addition to fourth-year captains Morgan Bernstein and Jenna Belian.
The Esports team continued to make a name for themselves in 2021-22 and they saw Counter Strike Division II win their second national championship. In May, the Panthers battled against national powers such as Stony Brook and the University of Toronto. The team advanced to the Grand Finals where they would take on Kansas State. The Wildcats defeated them in the regular season and upper bracket of the playoffs. They got their revenge in the finals with a 2-0 win in the NACE CSGO Challenger League.
