KENTWOOD, Mich. - The Panther swimming and diving teams hosted their first competition of the season as they welcomed Eastern Illinois and St. Ambrose to the Kentwood Aquatic Center.
The big highlights were a couple of outstanding performances by
Ella Wagner and
Marcel Setlak. Wagner made the NCAA B Cut in the 400 IM with a time of 4:27.93 and won the event by nearly 10 seconds. The freshman Setlak set the school record in the 200 back with a time of 1:50.58 and won the event.
Kevin Mills won the 100 yard free with a time of 46.86.
Alicja Pinkowicz was also a winner in the 200 yard back with a time of 2:03.90.
Angie Lorena Gomez Garcia was victorious in the 500 yard free in a time of 5:12.70. Wagner was a two-time winner in the meet in the 200 yard breast with a time of 2:23.12.Â
Owen Stender picked up a win in the 200 yard breast touching the wall at 2:06.14. The women's 400 yard medley relay won the event at 3:54.11. The team consisted of Pinkowicz,
Mallory Brownrigg, Wagner, and
Rebecca Wallis.
Julia Mizik bested the field in the 200 yard free at a time of 1:56.98. Setlak won his second event in the 200 yard free at a time of 1:43.44.Â
Pinkowicz collected another win in the 50 yard free with a time of 24.93.
Aubrey Underwood joined the winner's circle in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:08.90.
David Szczygiel got the best of his competitors in the 200 yard IM in a time of 1:54.86. Wagner continued her dominant meet in the 200 yard fly with a first-place finish in 2:09.01.
