Odeen Reaches 2,000 Career Assists as Panthers Sweep Eagles

HAMMOND, Ind. - Nicole Odeen eclipsed 2,000 career assists as the Davenport University women's volleyball team defeated Ashland 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the Hammond Sportsplex. The senior finished with a match-high 41 assists to lead the Panthers (9-11, 5-4 GLIAC), as she now has 2,001 total assists through four seasons, marking the fifth most in school history.

Davenport started the match on a 6-2 run, featuring three kills by Emmy Webb to lead the charge. With a back-and-forth first set, the Panthers held a three-point advantage late (18-15). DU dominated the final stretch with a 7-1 rally as Webb again made an impact with a pair of kills, and the Panthers took the first set 25-16.

After an early 7-4 deficit, Davenport tied the second set at 15 apiece. Two attack errors and a pair of bad sets by the Eagles (16-9, 9-1 G-MAC) helped the Panthers go on a 5-0 rally and take a 22-18 lead. Abby Alan delivered the final blow for DU with a kill off an assist from Odeen, giving the Panthers a 2-0 advantage following the 25-21 win.

Ashland opened the third and final set on a three-point rally. However, Kaitlin Jordan slammed a kill, sparking a 5-1 run moments later to put DU ahead of AU, 8-6. The Panthers were tied with the Eagles late as a kill by Lindsay Taylor sparked a 4-0 rally late to set the score at 18-18. DU finished on a 3-0 rally, as it finished in a 31-29 battle to close out the set with Webb recording the final kill.

Webb ended with a match-high 15 kills (also a season-high) while hitting a blistering .583 to lead DU, marking the fourth time this season the graduate has hit over .500. Taylor recorded a double-double, finishing with 14 kills and 15 digs for the Panthers.

Defensively, Stephanie Kalinowski tallied a match-high 22 digs in the victory for the Panthers.
