Turnquist, Jordan Tally Career-Highs in Day One of Midwest Regional Crossover

HAMMOND, Ind. - The Davenport women's volleyball team took a break from conference play, heading to the Midwest Regional Crossover to take on regional opponents (GLVC and G-MAC). The Panthers (8-11, 5-4 GLIAC) fell to No. 4 Missouri St.-Louis and Tiffin on the opening day of the tournament at the Hammond Sportsplex Friday evening.

How it Happened:
Davenport opened the tournament with the toughest opponent in the Midwest Region, undefeated No. 4 Missouri St.-Louis, holding the highest national ranking in the region. The Panthers fell in three sets to the Tritons (19-0, 5-0 GLVC) by scores of 14-25, 13-25, and 15-25.

Stephanie Kalinowski recorded 11 digs for the Panthers, marking the 16th consecutive match the libero has recorded double-digit digs.

Offensively, Emma Turnquist finished with a team-high seven kills in the loss for DU. Lindsay Taylor added 10 digs and five kills, while Kaitlin Jordan chipped in with five kills, swinging at a .273 clip and recording two total blocks defensively.

Nicole Odeen dished out a team-high 17 assists for the Panthers.

How it Happened:
Turnquist once again led Davenport, tallying a career-high 16 kills as the Panthers fell in a five-set thriller to the Dragons (11-9, 5-5 G-MAC). Jordan also finished the match with a career-high in kills for DU, recording 15 in the loss.

Despite the loss, DU finished with more points (108-104), kills (71-49), assists (63-47), digs (57-50), and a higher hitting percentage (.255-.228) than TU.

After dropping the first set by just two points, the Panthers bounced back with a convincing 25-15 victory in the second set. Jordan slammed a kill to spur a 3-0 rally early, giving DU its first lead of the set (5-4). The Panthers began to expand their lead midway through the, as Odeen dumped the ball over the net for a kill, giving them a 19-12 lead. Odeen finished the set with an ace to take down the Dragons 25-15 and tied the match 1-1.

Abby Alan got out to a strong start in the third set, accounting for three of Davenports' first seven points with a trio of kills. The remainder of the set was neck-and-neck, leading to a 23-23 tie late. The Panthers then finished the set on a 3-1 run, set in motion by a kill from Taylor, to gain a 2-1 lead in the match following the 26-24 win.

The Dragons answered, winning the following two sets, taking the match in five. Tiffin has defeated Davenport in five sets in both matchups between the two squads this season.

Taylor finished with a double-double, racking up 16 kills and 12 digs for the Panthers. Emmy Webb tallied 12 kills, hitting .348 with a pair of blocks and a service ace for DU. Odeen dished out a match-high 45 digs, while Kalinowski led the charge defensively with 22 digs.
