Taylor Tallies 10th Double-Double this Season in Loss to Michigan Tech

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -  Lindsay Taylor tallied her 10th double-double of the season, registering 16 kills and 13 digs, as the Davenport women's volleyball team was swept by Michigan Tech Friday evening at the DU Student Center. The graduate has now registered four double-doubles in the last five matches.

A quick 5-1 lead for the Panthers (10-13, 6-6 GLIAC) to start the first set forced the Huskies (11-12, 7-5 GLIAC) to take their first timeout. However, DU could not hold on as MTU took the set 25-18 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

In the second set, Michigan Tech went on a 7-1 run to gain a 19-11 lead, proving too much for the Panthers, winning the set 25-16.

With their backs against the wall in the third set, the Panthers battled to the end. DU went on an early 5-1 rally to trim its deficit to one. Similarly, Davenport had another 5-1 run midway through the set to put the score at 17-16 in favor of the Panthers. A crucial 4-1 rally was capped by a kill from Emma Turnquist, putting the Panthers in position to take the third set with a 25-24 advantage. However, the Huskies scored three straight points to sweep the Panthers and even the season series at one apiece.

For Davenport, Emmy Webb finished the night with seven kills while swinging at a .267 clip. Abby Welke added five kills, while Turnquist chipped in with four kills and two total blocks. Nicole Odeen ended with a team-high 16 assists in the loss for the Panthers.

Defensively, Stephanie Kalinowski tallied a match-high 18 digs for the Panthers, while Jessica Florn tied a career-high with seven digs.
