Preview: Panthers host Cardinals for single match week

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport University men's soccer continues their homestand against Saginaw Valley State in their lone match for week six, marking the second meeting against the opponent this season.

This match follows last week's woes against Purdue Northwest (2-0 loss) and Parkside (2-1 loss), both matches hosted by DU and dropping their position in the GLIAC to No. 5 with a 1-3-1 conference record.

Eoin Broughan and Vitalis Takawira Jr are in a four-way tie for fifth place with goals scored (three) with Cam Power in a tie for most assists with two (T-fourth). The return of Bobby Curran will be crucial for the Panther defense after the goalkeeper was suspended for the Parkside match after receiving a red card against PNW. Curran is second in the GLIAC for the fewest goals allowed (seven) and highest save percentage (.781) with a total of 25 saves.

SVSU Matchup
Historically, the Panthers haven't been able to get the best of the Cardinals with their overall record being 4-13-3 - the last five meetings finishing 1-3-1 for DU.

Jonathan Monney leads the team with five goals scored this season, tying him for second in the GLIAC leaderboards with 10 points to go along with it (T-third). Jack Simms sits one spot behind Curran for goals allowed (eight) and is tied for third for the highest save percentage at .771.

With the first meeting between the teams resulting in a 0-0 draw, both the Panthers and Cardinals will hope to reign victorious this time around.
