WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Davenport baseball team had a tough time putting the bat on the ball on Saturday afternoon in a 7-4 loss at Central Missouri to even the weekend series at a win apiece. The Panthers (2-3) fanned 15 times against four UCM pitchers and could not plate a run after the third inning. UCM (4-5) trailing 4-2 heading into the bottom of the third would score three times in the inning and end the game by scoring the final five runs.
Jared Schwartz got the start for Davenport but could not make it out of the third inning. He lasted 2.1 innings and allowed four hits and five earned runs.
Isaac Van Dyke had 3.1 strong innings in relief allowing no hits and one earned run with three walks and three strikeouts. JD McReynolds got the win in relief of starter Brock Toney. Toney went the first four innings before McReynolds tossed the next three innings. McReynolds allowed no hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Wyatt Clark struck out two batters in the ninth to earn his third save of the season.
The Mules hit three home runs in the contest from Carter Young, John Prudhom, and Isaiah Pani. Pani had the go-ahead RBI single in the third inning and finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI. Young and Prudhom also each had two RBI.
Khale Showers and
Tyler Mosher both left the yard for the Panthers. Showers had a solo blast in the second inning and Mosher also homered in the second inning for back-to-back home runs which tied the game at 2-2.
Ben Mets picked up more two hits after four yesterday going 2-for-3 with a triple, run scored, and RBI.Â
