HILLSDALE, Mich. - The men's tennis team went on the road for the first time this spring at the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center on a cool winter afternoon and was defeated 6-1 by Hillsdale. This Division II matchup sets the Panthers up for a string of Division II opponents in the coming weeks.
Narrowly losing the doubles to start, the Panthers won one out of the three matches. For one doubles,
Jan Stolin and
Joel Mast dropped the first three games of their match before winning six straight games in a 6-3 victory.
Carlos Henriquez and
Simone Pacciolla at two doubles took a tough loss to Brian Hackman and Nik Wastcoat 6-4.
Daniil Khitrou and
Subash Paramasivam capped the day for doubles in a physical contest, falling 6-2.

Paramasivam battled at the one position in singles, even forming a 5-2 lead in the second set, but ultimately fell 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) to 2021 NCAA Midwest Region singles champion Brennan Cimpeanu. The Panthers only point came at two singles as Stolin defeated Aidan Pack 6-1, 6-4. Mast was dismissed at three singles but not before causing his opponent trouble in the first set eventually losing 6-4, 6-0. Khitrou dropped at four singles 6-1, 6-1 by Daniel Gilbert.
Jose Brenes in the fifth spot lost in a physical 6-1, 6-1 defeat to Sean Barstow. Henriquez fought hard in his match at six singles, even having chances to claim the first set before falling 7-5, 6-2.
