HILLSDALE, Mich. - The Panther women's tennis team made a short trip down into Charger country for a non-conference match against Hillsdale College on Sunday. The team could not make it a perfect weekend after Friday's win over Aquinas with a 6-1 loss moving them to 3-2 this season. Hillsdale played once during the fall and this was their first match of 2023 and improved to 1-1 overall.

The Chargers took two of three in doubles at the two and three spots. The Panthers did capture a win at one doubles. Willemien Coetzee and Amy Bloch had little trouble in a 6-2 win over Sarah Hackman and Melanie Zampardo. The Chargers cruised through the other two matches with a 6-0 win at two doubles and 6-3 win at three doubles.

Hillsdale managed to win five of six matches in singles. Isabella Carofano at five singles for Davenport got the win. She defeated Ellie Chawner by scores of 6-4, 6-3. One other match went the distance at three singles. Coetzee dropped the first set 7-5 against Canela Luna and rallied to force a third set at 6-4 in the second. Luna finished it but it was a battle at 7-5 in the final set.
