DU wins morning match versus Bethel

ORLANDO, Fla. - The men's tennis team continued on with their spring break trip at the USTA National Campus with a morning match against Bethel and an afternoon match versus Ave Maria.
 
The Panthers showed some grit to gut out the doubles point in the opening match against Bethel. However, the Pilots had some plans for a victory as they came hot out of the gate in singles. At three doubles, Daniil Khitrou and Subash Paramasivam helped put the Panthers a step closer with a 6-1 win over Jerad Bos and Wes Troyer. Carlos Henriquez and Simone Pacciolla at two doubles earned a 6-2 win over Lucca Almeida and Santiago Flores. Jan Stolin and Joel Mast at the one-doubles position completed the doubles sweep 6-2 over Victor Bonsergent and Adriano de Oliveira.

Paramasivam at one singles, in a tough battle, ultimately lost in three competitive sets (6-7(6-8), 6-4, 8-10). Stolin in at two singles earned a comfortable win 6-3, 6-2 over de Oliveira. Mast played three singles strolling to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Flores. At four singles, it was Khitrou who put out an impressive showing with a 6-4. 6-1 victory over Almeida. Jose Brenes and Frank Piana III also earned victories in their respective positions to lead the team to a 6-1 win.
 
The Panthers showed again why their doubles lineup is one of the best in the Midwest region as they swept for the doubles point against Ave Maria. Carlos Henriquez and Simone Pacciolla in two doubles cruised to a 6-2 win over Gaston Erhardt and Fernando Orihuela. Jan Stolin and Joel Mast played the one-doubles position to earn the tandem point 6-4 over Gustavo Cruz and Luca Cirenza. At three doubles, Daniil Khitrou and Subash Paramasivam earned the icing on the cake for the Panthers with the 6-4 win over Guilherme Bento and Bruno Duarte.

Paramasivam inserted at one singles took a hard loss to Cruz (6-2, 7-5). Stolin showed once again why he is so reliable at two singles as the match was won (6-3, 6-4). Mast played three singles in a physical contest underneath the lights (6-3, 6-4) to Carlos Thireau. Khitrou competed in four singles, winning the first set 6-4 to embark on a thrilling finish before dropping the match (6-4, 2-6, 4-6). Brenes and Pion were dismissed in difficult circumstances as the match concluded.
