Andrews joins the women's volleyball coaching staff

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Head women's volleyball coach Brian Netzler has announced that Charley Andrews will be joining the coaching staff as an assistant coach.

"I'm thrilled to have Charley joining the volleyball program here at Davenport," said Netzler, who completed his fourth season in the fall of 2022. "Charley is driven, intelligent and relationship-oriented. She has had success as a player at a high level and was instrumental to the team's success at Hope College under head coach Becky Schmidt. Charley's skill set is a perfect fit for where Davenport volleyball is headed. She will be a tremendous asset to our team and on the recruiting trail." 

Andrews came to Davenport from Hope College where she served as the assistant coach for the 2022 season. Her primary duties included scouting future opponents, recruiting, and aiding in running specific drills and team drills.

Prior to Hope College, the Battle Creek, Michigan, native played in 64 career volleyball matches for the Western Michigan volleyball team during the 2019 and 2020 season. Andrews served as WMU's Leadership Committee and Diversity Task Force during the 2019-20 school year. She was an American Volleyball Coaches Association Diversity Award recipient in 2020.

Prior to enrolling at Western Michigan, Andrews competed as a heptathlete for the Michigan State University women's track and field team during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school year.

In addition to her college coaching career experience, Andrews has coached at FaR Out Volleyball Club right here in Grand Rapids for the past two years.

Andrews graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor of science in exercise science.
