DU narrowly defeated by Tiffin 4-3

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport men's tennis team competed on their home indoor courts for the first time since the spring break trip in Florida. They faced a regionally-ranked Tiffin University (9-1) at MVP SportsPlex on a Sunday afternoon.
 
The Panthers lost the doubles point, as they dropped all three matches. At three doubles, Daniil Khitrou and Subash Paramasivam lost a competitive 6-3 match to Matt Saunders and Cyrille Colomb. Jan Stolin and Joel Mast played one doubles as they lost 6-3 to Michael Gurtner and Matthew Telford. Carlos Henriquez and Simone Pacciolla teamed up at the two doubles spot, as they took a tough 6-4 loss to Ruben Fonga and Matthew Weaver.
 
The Panthers put doubles behind them, in order to give themselves a chance at singles. Starting out hot at two singles, Stolin continued to be reliable for the Panthers winning 6-3, 6-3 over Telford. Paramasivam at one singles won the first set against fourth-ranked in Division II Ruben Fonga, 6-4, before having chances to take the match in second setnbefore losing it 6-4. He ultimately ran out of steam falling 6-0 in the final set. Mast played three singles and the match went the distance as the Indiana native was dismissed (3-6. 6-3, 4-6) against Weaver.
 
Khitrou at the four singles position, showed off his racket skills as the match was won by his ability to finish at the net 6-3. 6-3 over Maxime Navrotchi. For five singles, it was Jose Brenes as he was challenged in a physical battle, dropping the match 6-4, 6-2 to Colomb. Pacciolla got the start at six singles, earning a gritty 7-6(7-4), 6-1 win over Saunders. Pacciolla is now on a two-match winning streak at six singles.

Davenport is now 9-7 overall this season and will be off until March 24 when they open up GLIAC play against Michigan Tech at Grand Rapids Racquet Club.
