DU Falls to Undefeated Maryville

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's lacrosse team continued out of conference play, dropping its second home game of the season 18-5 against Maryville Sunday afternoon.

It was a balanced attack offensively for the Panthers (1-7, 0-0 GLIAC), as Kylie Pettus, Avery Garant, Ayanna Turrubiates, Marisa Scola, and Theadora Krueger all registered one goal. Christine Steffes and Alyssa Bird led the way for DU defensively, each causing two turnovers, while Maisy Latus tied a career-high in saves with 14.

After falling behind 9-1, the Panthers scored three of the next four goals to trim the deficit to six with 13:14 remaining in the third period. The Saints (10-0, 0-0 GLVC) responded with five straight goals to grow their lead to 11 heading into the final period.

Garant found the back of the net to begin the fourth period as DU trailed 15-5 with 13:33 left to play in the contest. Maryville was able to strike back, scoring the final three goals of the game to top Davenport.

Looking ahead, the Panthers will hit the road, taking on Findlay on Thursday, March 23 at 3:30 p.m. in Findlay, Ohio.
