GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's tennis team improved to 11-7 overall and 2-1 in the GLIAC with a 6-1 win over Lake Superior State on Saturday morning.

The Panthers swept the doubles, earning the point. At the one doubles position,
Amy Bloch and
Willemien Coetzee captured a convincing 6-1 win over Marilou Cote and Valentina Parodi.
Louise Hosking and
Isabella Carofano played three doubles and they cruised to a 6-1 victory over Riley Gilman and Martina Oviedo. In the two doubles spot, it was
Skye Vandeleur and
Hermon Mikael who attained the challenging 6-4 win over Tayla Brasier and Julia Fraile Raton.

The Panthers ran with the confidence from doubles and carried it into singles. Beginning with four singles, Mikael was simply too strong for Fraile Raton in a 6-2, 6-1 win. Coetzee at two singles earned a satisfying 6-3, 6-4 win over Parodi. Bloch competed at one singles, and in an absolute grinding three-set match, the South African was dropped 7-6(8-6), 3-6, 7-10 by Cote. Vandeleur at three singles had to battle before ultimately claiming the 7-5, 6-2 win and gave the Panthers the victory.Â
