Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Bernard Anderson, Student Assistant

Panthers bitten by the Bulldogs 5-2

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The women's tennis team played on the road for the first time this conference season at the Ferris State Racquet and Tennis Center. The Panthers were put in front of some vicious Bulldogs as they claimed the 5-2 victory.

The Panthers lost their first doubles point in five matches. At one doubles, Amy Bloch and Willemien Coetzee were unable to overcome Morgan Waller and Ana Sofia Hernandez as the match was lost 6-2. The Bulldogs carried on as Skye Vandeleur and Hermon Mikael were taken out at two doubles by Parker Nolan and Maria Hernandez (6-4). Louise Hosking and Isabella Carofano played three doubles, claiming the only doubles victory for the Panthers, 6-4, over Sophie Daavettila and Amelia Laverdiere.

Beginning at one singles, Bloch showed glimpses of excellence, but Daavettila was simply too much to handle (6-3, 6-1). Coetzee competed at two singles winning three games and she was defeated by Waller (6-1, 6-2). At three singles, Vandeleur fought hard to earn seven games, however, Nolan kept the match out of reach for the Australian as the match was dropped (6-4, 6-3). The match was concluded as the Bulldogs pulled off three straight singles victories. The match continued to play on as the Panthers claimed two wins of their own, at four and six singles.
