Pompon finishes fourth in the nation

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Davenport University Pompon Team is returning home from a successful week in Orlando and are now fourth in the nation in Division II. Pompon scored a total of 84.12 points for their pom routine ranking it the highest scored piece in the program's history and shooting them ahead of fifth-ranked University of Southern Indiana. The team was just 3.3 points away from ranking in first place making their division/category one of the most competitive of the weekend.

"They worked so hard this season and we are all very proud of the outcome. This routine came from our souls and we all worked on a piece of it at one point or another. It's definitely a labor of love. The weekend was successful for so many reasons. It's the highest score we've ever received for any routine, it shot us up from the bottom and gives the team so much momentum going into next season. We are really starting to see this team spread its wings and make their mark on the pom and dance community. It is only the teams' second year competing Nationally but the programs eighth year in action. We are approaching on that tenth-year mark as a program and we're just getting started on what we can achieve. I'm so very proud of them all and looking forward to hitting the ground running next season."- Head Coach Erin Engeseth.

The team also competed in The Spirit Showdown against D1a, D1 ,D2 , D3 and open division teams. Placing 12th, they out-ranked Pacific University and were only 5.44 points from top ranked team Eastern Michigan University.
