LIMA, Ohio - The Davenport men's tennis team continued their road trip as they visited Northwestern Ohio on Saturday at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center. The Racers, No.4 in NAIA, had little to no trouble as they defeated the Panthers 6-1.
The Panthers adjusted their doubles lineup in hopes of some success. It began with three doubles,
Max Dion and
Jose Brenes got the start and posted a great effort before they fell 6-4 to Giovanni Branchetti and Lucas Perez.
Jan Stolin and
Joel Mast made a great team at one doubles as they earned an honorable 6-2 win over Pabolo Lopez Real and Nils Messin.
Carlos Henriquez and
Simone Pacciolla struggled at two doubles as their seven-match winning streak was broken and the match was dropped 6-2 to Martin Stanchev and Malik Omarkhanov.
The Panthers showed heart in singles but ultimately only earned one win. The victory came at three singles as Mast showcased determination as he claimed a 6-4, 6-3 over Perez. Paramasivam fought at the one singles spot and appeared to have glimpses of brilliance, but was knocked off 7-6(7-2), 6-3 by Branchetti. Khitrou was overwhelmed at four singles as his opponent managed to earn easy points on-serve. The senior from Minsk was routed 6-2, 6-2 by Mike Stieler. The Racers closed out the match at two singles. Stolin was in an absolute battle for the ages against Stanchev who took the match (6-7(6-8), 6-4, 6-7(5-7)).

The Davenport men will travel to Midland for the 2023 GLIAC Tournament on April 21st as the fourth-seeded team.Â
