Panthers Drop Final Game of 2023 Regular Season

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Davenport women's lacrosse team traveled to Michigan's upper peninsula to face off against Northern Michigan Friday evening. The Panthers (2-14, 0-6 GLIAC) fell 13-8 to the Wildcats (10-5, 4-1 GLIAC) in their final regular season game of the 2023 season.

Mika Kulynych found the back of the net off an assist from Jordon Highley with 12:37 remaining to tie the game at eight apiece down the stretch. However, Davenport could not regain the lead, allowing five straight goals to close out the final 12 minutes.

Kulynych gave the Panthers their only lead of the game midway through the second quarter, as she scored off an assist from Theadora Krueger.

Leading the way for the Panthers was Krueger, finishing with a pair of goals and assists, as well as a caused turnover and two ground balls in the loss. Kulynych added two goals as she has scored two goals in three of the last five games for DU.

Four other Panthers contributed in the scoring column; Highley, Blakely Malpass, Kylie Pettus, and Avery Garant all netted one goal.

In goal, Maisy Latus played all 60 minutes for Davenport, racking up nine saves on the evening.

The Panthers will now prepare for the GLIAC tournament, which takes place from April 28-30 and will be hosted by the conference's top team.
