Latus Registers Career-High 17 Saves as Panthers Fall to CSP

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -  Redshirt sophomore Maisy Latus recorded a career-high 17 saves as the Davenport women's lacrosse team fell 12-8 against Concordia-St. Paul Wednesday evening at the DU Turf Field.

After trailing 6-2 midway into the second quarter, the Panthers (1-11, 0-3 GLIAC) scored five of the games following six goals to tie the game at seven apiece with 1:24 remaining in the third quarter.

Heading into the fourth quarter tied, the Golden Bears (6-7, 2-2 GLIAC) took control of the game, scoring three consecutive goals to open the fourth quarter.

Blakely Malpass pulled DU back within two as she found the back of the net with 4:34 remaining in the contest to set the score at 10-8. However, CSP was able to hold off Davenport, scoring two more goals in the closing minutes to seal the game.

Malpass, Jordon Highley, and Mika Kulynych finished with two goals on the evening for the Panthers. Kylie Pettus added a game-high seven draw controls to go along with a goal and an assist. Theodora Krueger led the way defensively for DU, forcing three turnovers while securing eight ground balls.

Up next, the Panthers will remain home for senior day on Saturday against Thomas More at 1 p.m. at the DU Turf Field in Grand Rapids, Mich.
