Panthers Net Season-High 20 Goals to Secure Senior Day Victory

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -  The Davenport women's lacrosse team posted a season-high 20 goals in a 15-point win over Thomas More Saturday afternoon at the DU Turf Field. The contest served as senior day for the Panthers (2-11, 0-3 GLIAC), as the program honored its three seniors; Christine Steffes, Avery Garant, and Avery Eichler, as each member of the trio netted at least one goal in the win for DU.

After surrendering the first goal of the game to the Saints (6-8, 0-0 MSC) 1:53 into the first quarter, the Panthers dominated the remainder of the quarter. Blakely Malpass, Jordan Highley, and Garant all found the back of the net to give DU a 3-1 advantage heading into the second quarter.

Ele Darmofal capped off a 7-0 second-quarter run by the Panthers as she found the back of the net with 2:57 remaining in the half to grow the lead to 12-2, forcing a running clock.

Davenport continued its dominating performance in the second half, scoring eight of the game's final nine goals to seal the game.

Malpass continues to have a breakout sophomore campaign, once again leading the Panthers by scoring five goals, the most in a single game by a player this season. Kylie Pettus added a pair of goals and a game-high 14 draw controls for Davenport.

Steffes, Garant, Gabby Basha, and Darmofal all added two goals in the win for DU. Theadora Krueger led the charge defensively with a caused turnover and three ground balls. In goal, Maisy Latus played all 60 minutes, notching seven saves for the Panthers.

The Panthers will play in their final home game of the season as they will host No. 17 Grand Valley State next Wednesday, April 12 at the DU Turf Field
