Panthers lose first match of the season against Parkside

KENOSHA, Wisc. - Davenport University women's soccer suffered their first loss of the season against Wisconsin Parkside (2-1) in their first road match of the season. The loss snapped the Panthers' undefeated streak of five straight matches and brought their season record to 4-1-1 (1-1-1 in GLIAC).

Parkside would open the box score with a goal from Alexis Bolger (19') off an assist by Adrianna Rodriguez and would maintain this 0-1 lead throughout the rest of the first half after a penalty kick opportunity for DU was saved by Parkside with seconds remaining before halftime.

A valiant effort from the Panthers roughly 20 minutes into the second half would eventually result in a deflating second goal by Parkside, this time coming from Emily Mikkelson. Three shot-on-goal attempts from DU would be saved until a last-minute shot from Haley Diekevers found the back of the net (assisted by Madison Fant) and ultimately finished the match, 1-2 in favor of Parkside.

The Panthers will continue their road trip as they face Purdue Northwest on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 12 p.m. EST (11 a.m. CST).
