Panthers early lead fended off by Tech in 1-1 finish

HOUGHTON, Mich. - Davenport women's soccer continued their stretch of road matches against Michigan Tech, resulting in a 1-1 draw against the Huskies.

Madison Fant was the lone scorer for the Panthers, marking her fourth goal of the year to tie Haley Diekevers for the most individual goals scored for DU. The unassisted strike came inside of the 53rd minute to put the Panthers up 1-0. However, the Huskies would respond roughly 10 minutes later to level the match, 1-1, with a goal from Emilie Clayton that was assisted by Grace Hoeppner.

The remainder of the match would see little results as the Panthers would get just one more shot on target, as Gabriana Bennecke saved three shot-on-goal attempts from Michigan Tech to end the match level at 1-1.

Continuing their road trip against Northern Michigan, DU will hope to add another victory to their record that now stands at 4-1-3 (1-1-3 in GLIAC) on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. in Marquette.
