Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Anthony Clark Jr., Assistant Manager of Athletic Communications

Men's soccer falls to Tiffin at home

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport men's soccer suffered their first loss this season against Tiffin University, 4-1, in their first match at home.

A relatively quick strike from the Dragons ('3) seemingly disrupted the momentum of the Panthers going forward, as freshman goalkeeper Braydon Lancaster would get his first collegiate start in what happened to be his first time out for the Panthers. However, the short-lived run would only last roughly 22 minutes after a collision with a Tiffin player forced him out for the rest of the match.

Less than a minute later, the Dragons scored once again ('24), followed by their third goal of the match ('27) to take a commanding lead into halftime.

Two minutes into the second half, Tiffin scored their fourth and final goal ('47) as a parade of yellow cards would be the highlight of the half with nine cards being issued between the teams. One of the yellows would result in a penalty kick in favor of DU, and sophomore forward Vitalis Takawira Jr. took advantage of his second PK of the season to tally goal number two on the year - preventing the Panthers from finishing in a shutout loss.

DU will host their second match of the week against Northwood University on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at the DU Turf Field.
