Panthers keep rolling, extend win streak to three

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University women's soccer team extended their winning streak to three matches straight after a home victory against Tiffin University, 3-0.

Led by freshman forward Madison Fant's two goals (three total this season), the Panthers managed to record their first three-match shutout win streak since 2016 - the last season the program was still in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Senior goalkeeper Gabriana Bennecke saved Tiffin's lone shot attempt early in the first half just inside of the 11th minute, as the Panthers would record 20 shots total with 10 of them on goal.

Junior forward Haley Diekevers would find the inside of the net inside of the last 10 minutes of the match ('81) to tally her third of the season off an assist by junior defender Izabelle Olsson, sealing the deal for the Panthers' third win of the season.

A chippy match throughout, 14 fouls were called by the officials with the Dragons' Suzy Hayes and Caysee Burk both receiving yellow cards.

DU's next matchup will be their fourth home match against Saginaw Valley State on Friday, Sept. 15 at 4 p.m. at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex.
