KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The men's ACHA Division I hockey team picked win No. 16 on Wednesday night at Western Michigan by a final score of 5-4. It was the fourth victory of the season against the Stallions and Davenport is now 38-6 all-time in the series between the two teams.

It was a dream start for the Panthers who opened up a 3-0 lead in the first 13:53 of the game. Justin Turner scored short-handed at the 3:09 mark to get things going. Noah Bradburn added to the lead about six minutes later with an unassisted goal, his fourth goal of the season. Dylan Jouppi joined the party with his second goal of the season at 13:53 with an assist from Peter Stojcevski. The Stallions did get into the scoring column with just 16 seconds remaining in the first period to trail 3-1 after 20 minutes.

The second period was somewhat uneventful which was good for the Panthers as they scored the period's only goal at 15:27 by Bradburn. Tyler Kaminski and Jacob Alton each had an assist on the goal.

The third period was where things got very interesting. Kristers Klavins gave DU a 5-1 lead at the 3:20 mark as Stojcevski added another assist. Western Michigan came storming back as they would score three straight power play goals. Layne Brubaker-Egner scored his fourth goal of the season at 11:03. Charles Carnes also netted his fourth tally of the season coming at 13:57. Charlie Tess notched his fifth goal of the season at 15:27. The Panthers then were able to cling to their one-goal lead and come away with the road win. The Stallions went to an empty net with 1:35 remaining but could not tie it up.

Kyler Lowden played all 60 minutes in net for the Panthers and stopped 27 shots. John Moriarty was much busier on the night and stopped 56 shots for Western Michigan.

Davenport (16-10) will now welcome No. 21 Iowa State (7-6) to Patterson Ice Center for a two-game series beginning on Friday at 8:35 PM. The two teams will also skate on Saturday at 3:35 PM.
