Preview: DU looks to fortify undefeated home streak, hosts NMU and No. 13 SCS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport University men's soccer (4-3-3, 1-1-2 GLIAC) has just eight regular season matches left on the schedule as the Panthers look to capitalize on home pitch advantage this weekend to help solidify a postseason berth.

DU's most recent contests were on the road at Purdue Northwest (2-2 draw) on Oct. 4 and Wisconsin-Parkside (2-2 draw) on Oct 6. Beau Hudd returned to the lineup for the Panthers in the Parkside matchup, the freshman making seven saves to help the team finish the weekend undefeated.

The draws helped to keep DU in the top four of the GLIAC as four different Panthers logged a goal; Jackson Curtis (first career goal), Josh Cook, Henry Lopez (first career goal), and Andrew Dykstra. Dykstra and Easton Lopez are still in the top five of the GLIAC leaderboards for goal total as the pair lead the team with four scores each.

With the Panthers maintaining a 2-0 home record thus far, DU will face yet another top-15 opponent for the third time this year as they host Northern Michigan and No. 13 St. Cloud State.

Northern Michigan Matchup
The Wildcats were rolling before this year's first GLIAC contest, bringing a 3-0-1 record into conference action with their only draw coming against then-No. 25 Lewis University. Since then, NMU has gone 1-4 as they look to turn things around this weekend (4-4-1 overall).

Alessandro Scialanga's team-leading three goals tie him for fourth in the conference as teammates Tommaso Lami, Davian Gumbs, and William Uchenna are in a close second with two scores apiece. Although the freshman forward has one goal this year, Teun Van Gansewinkel is no stranger to accurate shots with 15 attempts for the GLIAC's second-highest tally.

Nils Cedergren has played the most minutes by any conference goalkeeper (810 total) after starting and playing in all nine matches, making 23 saves to maintain the fourth-best conference save percentage (.719).

DU maintains an 8-2-5 historical record over the Wildcats as the teams prepare for the 16th all-time meeting.

#13 St. Cloud State Matchup
SCS didn't allow back-to-back losses during opening weekend to define their season as the Huskies have ridden a seven-match winning streak since Sept. 13 (7-2 overall, 5-0 GLIAC), including a gritty 4-3 victory over then-No. 21 Parkside on Sept. 27.

An astonishing 11 goals have been logged by twice-named Second Team All-GLIAC, Philip Caputo, with the senior forward completing two hat tricks (three goals in a single match) this season both at home against Upper Iowa (Sept. 13) and Parkside - scoring nearly 48% of the team's 23 goals. Mika Folstad (three), Owen Wordsell (two), and Rhys Ward (two) have also been key contributors to the team's goal tally with the Huskies' 34 total assists leading the conference by a margin of over a dozen.

Three keepers have seen action for SCS in their nine matches; Ramy Atia starting each contest while posting 28 saves and nine goals allowed on 99 shots faced through 720 minutes played.

The all-time series is 5-0-2 in favor of DU ahead of Oct. 13 with a promising early-morning matchup on tap.
