DU suffers first loss of October, falls to NMU

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Dropping its first game in nearly a month, Davenport University men's soccer (6-4-4, 3-2-3 GLIAC) fell 2-0 on the road to Northern Michigan to close the series at 0-1-1 in favor of the Wildcats.

Early scores for the opponent were the difference maker, as a goal by Tommaso Lami (4') under five minutes into the match was later followed by another goal by a junior forward (14'), ultimately sealing the deal for NMU.

The Panthers' fourth loss this year wasn't due to a lack of effort. The contest was nearly neck-and-neck, with DU outshooting NMU 19-to-14, and the Wildcats maintaining the attempts-on-goal edge that finished nine-to-eight. Beau Hudd tied his career and season high for saves (seven), as Josh Cook and Henry Lopez led the offensive attack with three and two shots-on-net, respectively.

DU will look to rebound with three straight home matches on the horizon as they host Parkside on Friday, Oct. 25.
