Goal in final minutes results in Panthers first GLIAC draw

HAMMOND, Ind. - Davenport University men's soccer (4-3-2, 1-1-1 GLIAC) walked away in a 2-2 draw at Purdue Northwest after two Panthers scored their first goals this season to avoid the road loss.

George Deveau opened the offensive attack for DU as a promising look to give the Panthers an early lead near the 17th minute was saved by the Pride. Just over 10 minutes later, a shot attempt by Jackson Curtis, assisted by Josh Cook, found the back of the net (28') to go up 1-0 and give the second-year Panther his first career goal. Four shot attempts by PNW summed up the remainder of any offensive attack by the teams as DU maintained its one-score lead at halftime.

The Pride managed a stunning comeback in the early portions of the second half after two of three shot attempts by PNW were converted successfully (51', 54'), giving the opponent a 2-1 lead with plenty of time remaining. Although the Pride managed to outshoot the Panthers six-to-one over the next 30 minutes, DU didn't fold under pressure as Andrew Dykstra assisted Cook for the equalizer (86') as Cook's attempted game-winner in the 90th minute was saved by PNW, ending the contest in a tie.

DU's road trip continues on Sunday, Oct. 6, for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff at Wisconsin-Parkside.
