Lopez, Dykstra lead Panthers to undefeated result at Parkside

KENOSHA, Wisc. - Davenport University men's soccer closed its two-match weekend by adding five points to the season total after a 2-2 draw at Wisconsin-Parkside.

The Panthers didn't allow an early one-goal deficit near the 13th minute to disrupt their game plan as experience with similar situations have occurred a few times this season. Instead, freshman Henry Lopez stood to the challenge of leveling the match by converting his only shot attempt (19') to tie the score and log his first collegiate goal, 1-1.

DU maintained its aggression over the next 11 minutes by outpacing the Rangers three-to-one on shot attempts. Just as the game clock hit the 30th minute, a shot attempt by Andrew Dykstra laced the back of the net (assist Kirby Eggers), giving the Panthers a 2-1 edge at halftime.

Frustration fouls highlighted the first 22 minutes of the second as nine whistles signaling an offense slowed the offensive attack for each side. Under a minute after DU was called for its sixth foul of the half, Matteo Quintero tallied the equalizer for Parkside (67') as the Panthers' four shots-on-goal throughout the remainder of the match was stopped short by Parkside's keeper.

Now 4-3-3 overall (1-1-2 GLIAC), DU is back home for a two-match homestand with the first contest on Friday, Oct. 11, against Northern Michigan University.
