First-half goal cuts DU's GLIAC title run short, NCAA tournament bid still possible

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Davenport University men's soccer fought hard in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals but dropped a 1-0 decision to Roosevelt University, ending conference postseason action for the Panthers.

Both sides were essentially neck-and-neck in the offensive attack, with the Lakers slightly outpacing DU six-to-four with shots on goal and 16-to-10 for overall attempts. Although Beau Hudd recorded five saves for the Panthers, Roosevelt managed to sink the game-winner just under four minutes before halftime. With plenty of time to rally a comeback, accurate shot attempts by Jackson Curtis, Cam Power, and Henry Lopez in the latter 45 were saved by the Lakers' keeper and advanced the No. 1-seeded opponent to the title game.

The Panthers are currently ranked No. 7 in the NCAA Super-Region 3 standings and will wait for the results of the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Selection Show, which will air Monday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. EST on ncaa.com.
