Preview: Panthers Close Four-Game Homestand Against Northwood

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University men's basketball team is set to close its season-opening four-game homestand on Wednesday evening against Northwood at 7 p.m. at the DU Student Center.

The Panthers (1-2, 0-0 GLIAC) are coming off their first win of the 2024-25 season, defeating Grace Christian 88-69 last Wednesday (Nov. 13). In the win, five Panthers finished in double figures; Montrel Oliver Jr. (16), Alden Ritt (14), Matyas Vrabel (13), Jovan Tucker (13) and Dylan Smith (10).

About the Timberwolves

Finished their 2023-24 campaign with a 7-21 overall record, while going 4-16 in G-MAC action.
Guided by first-year head coach Tom Church, who became the 11th coach at the helm of the program on April 29, 2024. Church came to NU from Tiffin, where he spent six seasons as the head coach.
Enter the game off a 91-42 win over Kuyper last Wednesday (Nov. 13).
Both losses have come to GLIAC schools, falling to Ferris State (85-58) and Lake Superior State (76-69).
Elijah Watson is their top offensive threat, averaging a team-high 15.3 points per game. The Wayne State (Neb.) transfer is also shooting 60 percent from the floor, grabbing 4.3 rebounds per game and dishing out 2.1 assists.
Will Young II is in his third season with NU, averaging a career-high 12 points, starting in all three games this season.
