Panthers Head to Findlay for First Road Contest

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University men's basketball team is heading to Findlay for its first road game of the 2024-25 season. Last week, the Oilers came in at No. 25 in the NABC Coaches Poll but fell to No. 13 Ferris State on Saturday (Nov. 23), 100-76.

Last time out, the Panthers (1-3, 0-0 GLIAC) lost 84-65 to Northwood on Wednesday (Nov. 20) at the DU Student Center. In the loss, Jovan Tucker poured in a season-high 20 points, while grabbing six rebounds and notching three steals. Freshman Matyas Vrabel recorded the first double-double of his career, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

About the Oilers
  • A season ago, the Oilers went 12-16 overall, while garnering a 9-11 record in conference action.
  • Will Aljancic is the top returner for UF, currently leading the squad in points per game (18) while grabbing four rebounds per game and shooting over 50 percent from the floor. As a true freshman in 2023-24, the forward averaged 9.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest. In his career debut against Truman State (Nov. 10, 2023), Aljancic poured in 25 points, which was the fifth time a true freshman had scored 25 in a game at UF. He also grabbed 11 rebounds, which marked the first double-double in a freshman debut since 1994 for the Oilers. 
  • True freshman Ian Loppolo is second on the team in scoring (15.4 pg), shooting over 60 percent from the field and 58.6 percent from deep.
