Preview: Panthers Return Home Against Great Lakes Christian

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University men's basketball team returns home to take on Great Lake Christian on Saturday (Dec. 14) at 3 p.m. at the DU Student Center in Grand Rapids, Mich. The Panthers (2-6, 0-2 GLIAC) opened conference play last weekend, falling to Wayne State and Saginaw Valley.

Freshman forward Dylan Smith had an impressive weekend, scoring in double figures in both contests, including a season-high 17 points against the Cardinals. Smith also notched six rebounds, three assists and three steals in the loss to SVSU.

About the Crusaders
  • Finished their 2023-24 season with a 17-11 overall record, going 9-3 in conference action.
  • Entering the weekend on a two-game winning streak, defeating Andrews 82-74 (Dec. 3) and Calumet 82-72 (Dec. 11). 
  • Darien Banks leads the team in scoring, pouring in 17.8 points per contest while shooting 42.5 percent from the floor and 38.5 percent from deep.
  • Leading the squad in rebounding is Rasheed Dyson, grabbing 5.8 boards per contest. The senior is also the second-leading scorer at 13.4 points per game.
