Women’s Volleyball Places Three on CSC Academic All-District List

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Abby Alan, Kaitlin Jordan and Mehl Hansen of the Davenport University women's volleyball team were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. 

To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a sophomore both academically and athletically. They must have competed in 90% of the institution's games/contests/sets played or must start in at least 66% of the games/contests/sets. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Graduate students must have a minimum of 3.50 for both their graduate program GPA and their undergraduate GPA.  

As a sophomore in 2024, Alan had a breakout season emerging as the top offensive threat for the Panthers. She led the squad in kills (354), kills per set (3.40), points (406) and service aces (34). The Burlington, Wis. native also was second on the team in digs (239). Alan ended the season with 11 double-doubles and eclipsed 20 kills five times this season. In her best match of the year, Alan recorded a career-high 22 kills to go along with 10 digs, three total blocks and two aces in a 3-2 victory over Parkside (Oct. 5).

Jordan was a key contributor to the 2024 Panther squad, playing in 25 of the teams 29 matches. The junior finished the season with 83 kills, 17 service aces and 51 digs. Jordan ranked second on the team in total blocks with 59, marking a career-high. Her best game of the season came against Michigan Tech (Nov. 8), finishing the match with eight kills, swinging at a.500 percent clip, while also notching four digs and three total blocks. 

In her first season with the Panthers after transferring from the University of Illinois Chicago, Hansen was the primary setter for DU in 2024. The junior led the team in assists (806) and assists per set (7.98). She also finished third in digs (192). Hansen recorded double digit assists in 28 of 29 matches and tallied seven double-doubles on the season. Her best performance of the season came against Cedarville (Oct. 18), finishing the match with a season-high 49 assists and 12 digs in a 3-1 victory.
