HOLLAND, Mich. - The Davenport men's swimming and diving team placed sixth in the GLIAC Championships hosted at the Holland Aquatic Center over the last four days. The meet was very productive for the young Panther squad as they set six new school records. Freshman
Maciej Konarski had himself a great meet individually setting the school record in the 200 IM on Friday and also getting the NCAA "B" Cut with a time of 1:50.20. During the 400 IM on Saturday, he also completed the double with a school record and NCAA "B" Cut in the time of 3:54.29. He was also a part of two school records in the 800 free relay and 400 free relay. The 800 free relay on Sunday was a time of 6:44.13 and also included
Grant Sandstedt,
Gerard Labernia Oms, and
Jakub Karpinski. In the 400 free relay on Monday, the school record was set at 3:00.70 with Sandstedt, Karpinski, and
Kevin Mills.
Mills hit the NCAA "B" Cut in the 50 free with a time of 20.43. He also was a part of the 200 free relay on Friday in a time of 1:22.09 with
Micah Sholl,
Mitch Dickey, and
Eric Perczak. The relay success continued on Saturday in the 400 medley as a school record was broken with a time of 3:15.68. The four swimmers were
Marcel Setlak,
Owen Stender,
David Szczygiel, and Mills.
Stender hit the NCAA "B" Cut in the 100 breast in a time of 53.99. Perczak set the school record and made the NCAA "B" Cut in the 200 fly (1:47.81). Mills also hit the NCAA "B" Cut in the 100 free on Monday in a time of 45.07. Stender competed in the 200 breast with a NCAA "B" Cut time of 1:58.32.
