GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport men's tennis team came back from a 3-1 deficit on Friday to pull out a 4-3 win over visiting Lawrence Tech at Grand Rapids Racquet Club. It was the third straight win for the Panthers and second straight by a single point.
The Panthers were able to gain the doubles point winning at the number one and two spots.
Carlos Henriquez and
Simone Pacciolla competed at one doubles and won 6-3 over Evan Morgan and Juan Jose Pastor. In addition,
Subash Paramasivam and
Jan Stolin at two doubles took down Antoine Haurez and Takuya King by a score of 6-3.
Stolin at one singles was tied after two sets but had to retire against Morgan. Juan Jose Pastor at five singles got a 6-4, 6-3 win over
Jose Brenes.
Marius Pion at four singles started the comeback with a three-set win (4-6, 6-3, 7-5) over Haurez. Paramasivam at two singles also needed three set before winning the match (6-4, 6-7, 7-5). Pacciolla at six singles also got the clinching point over Redwane Bouhajda (6-2, 4-6, 6-2). The team fought off four total match points in singles play.
The Panthers will now face Walsh tomorrow at 1:00 PM from MVP SportsPlex in Grand Rapids.
