GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport men's tennis team finished their third match in three days this weekend with a 6-1 loss to Tiffin University in NCAA Division II competition. The Dragons are a Midwest region opponent who plays in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Tiffin improved to 5-2 overall with the win while Davenport falls to 7-3, having dropped their last two matches.
Michael Gurtner and Matthew Telford for the Dragons won at one doubles 6-4 against
Carlos Henriquez and
Simone Pacciolla of the Panthers to set the tone.
Subash Paramasivam and
Jan Stolin at two doubles got yet another win together this season 6-2 over Ruben Fonga and Matthew Weaver.
Jose Brenes and
Marius Pion of Davenport at three doubles fell 6-4 against Martin Driesner and Cyrille Colomb.
Tiffin got the early doubles point and then won five of the six singles matches. DU got their point at two singles as Paramasivam won in straight sets over Telford (7-5, 6-4). Three of the other singles went into three sets in favor of Tiffin. Brenes at five singles had the best battle falling 6-7, 6-3, 10-6.
