Late comeback comes up short as Panthers fall to Eagles

ASHLAND, Ohio - Davenport University women's lacrosse went down to the wire with Ashland University, but a goal in the closing minutes of the game lifted the Eagles 11-10 over the Panthers.

The end of the first period saw the teams tied at 3-3, with another three goals scored from both sides in the ensuing 10 minutes as the game tied at 6-6 at the halftime break. Maddy Haynes, Alyssa Bird, and Blakely Malpass (assist Haynes) were the goal scorers in the first 10 minutes, as Haynes, Malpass (assist Haynes), and Marisa Scola (assist Malpass) brought the tally to six for DU at the end of the second period.

A demanding third period saw the Panthers trailing 10-8. An unassisted goal by Mika Kulynych knotted the scoreboard at 10 apiece with 11:34 remaining in the contest, but the Eagles scraped by with a win as a goal from Ashley Fisher at the 3:09 mark allowed Ashland to prevail.
