Panthers weather the Storm in 20-7 victory

Latus moves up in all-time rankings; Krueger, Rodriguez set career highs

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Davenport University women's lacrosse dominated Lake Erie in a 20-7 victory on the road over the Storm, improving to 2-1 overall this season.

A 5-2 lead at the end of the first period summarized the remainder of the game, with DU outscoring Lake Erie 12-3 between the second and third periods and allowing just two more goals by the Storm in the final 10 minutes.

Theadora Krueger led the way for the Panthers by marking a career-high five goals on seven shot attempts (career high) that were all on the mark. 

Maisy Latus tallied five saves overall to mark her 320th career save, moving Latus to No. 2 in the all-time leaderboards. 

Maddy Haynes and Brianna Rodriguez (career high) contributed three goals, followed by two each from Gabby Basha (t-career high), Alyssa Bird, and Mika Kulynych, and one goal from Blakely Malpass, Marisa Scola, and Emma Hulshof.

As a team, DU raked in 11 groundballs, four of which came from Bird, went 21 of 31 in draw controls, and had 11 turnovers while forcing 16 turnovers by Lake Erie - Bird also leading the team with two caused turnovers.

The Panthers will have just over a week off as they prepare to wrap up their five-game road trip in a match against the University of Indianapolis on Saturday, March 9.
