ALLENDALE, Mich. - The matchup on Saturday in men's tennis between Davenport and Grand Valley State belonged to the Lakers by a final score of 6-1 in GLIAC action. GVSU was able to sweep the doubles portion to earn a point. The closest match came at No. 1 doubles where
Jan Stolin and
Subash Paramasivam dropped a 6-4 decision against Sean Miller and Victor Lopes.
Paramasivam moved up into the No. 1 singles spot for this one and fell 6-3, 6-2 against Denys Zamaraiev. Stolin at No. 2 singles had a three-set battle against Miller. Miller dropped the first set 6-3 and then rallied for the 6-3, 6-4 win.
Carlos Henriquez at No. 3 singles dropped a straight set dual with Lopes by scores of 6-4, 6-3.
Simone Pacciolla at No. 6 singles did earn the one point for the Panthers. He needed a super tiebreaker but pulled it out 6-4, 6-7, 10-8 against Stephen Claassen.
The Panthers (10-9, 0-2) will have their last non-conference match of the season on Thursday, Mar. 28 against Southwest Baptist. The 4:00 PM match is scheduled to be played at the Grand Rapids Racquet Club.
