Panthers fall 13-3 to No. 8 Lakers

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Davenport University women's lacrosse dropped a league game against No. 8 Grand Valley State University 13-3 on the road.

The Panthers couldn't score in the first half but managed to hold the opponent to two goals in both the first and second periods to keep the deficit at 4-0 heading into halftime.

GVSU added a goal to their tally to open the third period, but Theadora Krueger tabbed the first goal for DU at the 13:02 mark. Capitalizing on a player-up situation, Alyssa Bird scored the Panthers' second-straight goal to cut into the lead, 5-2.

Unfortunately, seven unanswered goals scored by GVSU allowed the Lakers to increase their lead to 12-2 and ultimately sealed the victory. Maddy Haynes tallied DU's third goal halfway into the fourth period to cap off the scoring for the Panthers.

DU had just eight shots total, six of which were on net. The Panthers managed to win the draw control battle, going 11-of-20 overall.

The Panthers (6-7 overall, 1-4 GLIAC) close the regular season at home on Monday, Apr. 29, in another matchup against GVSU.
