Softball Concludes 2024 Season

CALEDONIA, Mich. - The Davenport University softball team concluded its 2024 season with a pair of losses to Purdue Northwest on Saturday Afternoon at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. The contest served as the team's senior day, as Alexis Gills, Kelsey Byers, Hayley Kreiger and Kaycee Loehr were all honored by the program postgame.

Game 1
Result: L, 7-4
How it Happened
The Panthers (15-31, 7-17 GLIAC) opened up game one of the doubleheader with a 2-0 lead after scoring a run in the first and second innings.

Kreiger put the opening run of the day on the board as she bombed a solo home run over the center field fence. In the bottom of the second with the bases loaded, Becca Daoust singled to center field, which brought home Sophia Propps.

However, the Pride (30-20, 15-9 GLIAC) answered in a big way in the third, scoring six of their seven runs in the inning to take a 6-2 lead.

Riley Hasseld helped trim the four-run deficit in the sixth with a two-RBI double to left-center field, bringing home Daoust and Alex Rendon

Savanna Disbrow finished the game batting 3-for-4 for the Panthers. Kreiger and Brooke Bernt each added a pair of hits in the loss for DU.

Game 2
