Panthers Fall 6-1 to Cards

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Davenport University women's tennis team took on Saginaw Valley State Friday afternoon at the Greater Midland Tennis Center. The Panthers (12-8, 1-3 GLIAC) fell 6-1 to the Cardinals (7-7, 3-1 GLIAC).

Willemien Coetzee and Amy Bloch picked up a 7-5 victory over Adriana Barrio and Tara Erler at No. 1 doubles. The duo has now won 11 matchups as a tandem this season.

However, SVSU won at both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions to take the 1-0 lead in the match heading into singles play.

Hermon Mikael secured a 6-2, 5-7, 10-7 win over Tara Erler at No. 2 singles to score the only point in the match for Davenport. The senior has now secured 10 singles victories in the 2023-24 season.
