#1 Lakers Run Past Panthers on Thursday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University women's basketball team fell 110-51 to No. 1 Grand Valley State on Thursday afternoon at the DU Student Center. Using a full-court press and constant pressure defensively, the Lakers (17-1, 7-0 GLIAC) forced 21 first-half turnovers to help them get out to a commanding 60-23 lead over the Panthers (3-12, 1-6 GLIAC) at the break.

Deyonce Thompson scored the first bucket of the game on a three-pointer from the left wing, giving DU its only lead of the game, 3-0. GVSU immediately answered with a 21-2 run over the course of the next 4:20 to gain a 21-5 advantage. 

Leading the way in scoring for the Panthers was Deyonce Thompson, pouring in 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Neveah Williams added 10 and three assists for DU, while Jada McCree chipped in with nine points.

Madison Fant logged minutes for the first time this season, draining a three-pointer and dishing out one assist in 11 minutes of playing time.

Looking ahead, the Panthers will travel to Chicago, Ill. to take on Roosevelt at 2 p.m. at the Goodman Center.
