Late Equalizer Snaps Davenport’s Lead at Parkside

KENOSHA, Wis. — Davenport University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside battled to a 2-2 draw on Saturday at Wood Road Field. Davenport took an early lead with two first-half goals, but Parkside responded with a late equalizer. Despite being outshot 27-12, Davenport goalkeeper Beau Hudd recorded nine saves to help secure the tie.

The first half began with Parkside striking first when Yeison Santos found the net, assisted by Angel Luevano, putting Davenport in an early deficit. The Panthers responded swiftly, with Ryan Sheffer equalizing in the 9th minute — his third consecutive goal in as many matches — capitalizing on assists from Maxamillian Postlewait and Charlie Davis.

Momentum shifted in Davenport's favor as Postlewait scored in the 19th minute, assisted by Alexis Rivera-Velasquez, giving the Panthers a 2-1 lead. The half concluded with Davenport maintaining that advantage, showcasing a strong offensive response after the early setback.

The second half opened with Wisconsin-Parkside applying early pressure, but Hudd made several crucial saves to keep Davenport in front. Austin Hall and Drew Matyunas each registered attempts on goal, with Matyunas testing the opposing goalkeeper in the 52nd minute. Despite the Panthers' strong defensive efforts, Wisconsin-Parkside equalized in the 89th minute on a penalty kick.

Davenport's back line remained resilient throughout, deflecting numerous shots and holding firm until the late penalty shifted momentum. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, reflecting a hard-fought contest from both sides.

Hudd finished with nine saves on 27 shots faced. Postlewait contributed both a goal and an assist, finishing with three points. Sheffer added a goal on his lone shot, while Davis provided an assist on one of the Panthers' first-half tallies.

Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen led Wisconsin-Parkside with one goal and seven shots, including two on target. Luevano added an assist and five shots, three on goal, while Santos recorded a goal on three attempts. In net, Daniyal Rana played all 90 minutes, making three saves on 12 shots faced while allowing two goals.

Up next, Davenport travels to Marquette, Mich., to face Northern Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 12, with kickoff set for noon.
